Seldom has been discussed in the European public as intensively and with so much blood, sweat and tears about economic connections as today in the course of the European debt crisis. Unfortunately, know-how for the complex connections cannot always keep pace with the enthusiasm and the passion of the discussants.

What becomes clear thereof is, on the one hand, that Economics have arrived in the midst of society. On the other hand, a vacuum reveals which apparently cannot or does not want to close the traditional, theory-stressed science of the national economy. The applicability of the strongly formalised model economy restricts itself too frequently to problems that do not exist beyond the own guild. The development of propositions for action for concrete problems of the national and international policy are quickly dismissed as profane and is, apart from the council of experts, rather seldom.

This is exactly the point where the course Applied Economics should go on. The core of the studies is not the derivation and profoundment of theoretical knowledge but its application to current problems.

Target group

The Bachelor course is aimed at students who aspire to a later occupation in ministeries, federations, parafisci, in the banking and insurance sector, in international organisations or in the scientifically sound policy counselling. It distinguishes from the academic training in Economics by a clear connection of theory and practice, the concentration on analysis and competence to solve problems, the task of strict model fixing, the firm anchorage of events concerning market and State failure in the curriculum and the always returning reflection of ethics and justice in the economy.
