Our health is our most important asset. The initiative "Healthy Hochschule Deggendorf" is a comprehensive concept for health promotion in a university setting. This includes both the students and the employees of the Deggendorf Institute of Technology. The aim of the initiative is to enable "Individual Health Management" (Individuelles Gesundheitsmanagement = IGM). This includes the communication of competences for the assessment of one's own health status through information events in which quality-assured knowledge is imparted and through activities such as health days on the topics of "nutrition", "exercise" and "stress management". In terms of health services research, the measures are evaluated and presented in the form of a health report by the Deggendorf Institute of Technology.
In order to implement the "Healthy Deggendorf Institute of Technology" initiative, we work together with medical service providers in the region, with health insurance companies and with the Competence Centre for Complemenrary Medicine and Naturpathy (Kompetenzzentrum für Komplementärmedizin und Naturheilkunde = KoKoNat) at the Klinikum rechts der Isar of the Technical University of Munich.
What is "mensaVital" ?
This is a newly developed and registered menu line in the student’s union which was created in cooperation with nutritionists and cooks from a nutritional-physiological point of focus.
The Student’s Union serves a mensaVital meal in the cafeteria on the Deggendorf campus once or twice a week.
Good to know:
The nutritional value for a portion of each "mensaVital" dish is accurately calculated. One portion provides the exact energy requirements of an adult lunch with a sedentary occupation. Based on these requirements, each “mensaVital” meal contains a maximum of 750 cal.
As health care supporters, we promote active lifestyles and offer staff and students the possibility to enjoy many activities!
Take a look at our sport clubs to see all our fun activities available to all staff and students.
Our university is not only a place of teaching and research, it is also a working and living space for all university members. Therefore, special importance is attached to corporate health management. A not insignificant part of this is sport.
In addition to general university sport, in which all enroled students and members of staff of our university can participate, company sport is offered as a balance to professional activity and as an instrument of health promotion within the framework of company health management.
This takes place exclusively in leisure time and does not include any aspect of performance. The focus is not on top performance, but on sporting and social interaction.
Furthermore, the "Bewegte Pause" (moving break) offers a health-oriented short programme of mobilisation, exercise and relaxation. It is aimed at all those who are looking for an active balance to their everyday working life (e.g. office and desk work, physically demanding activities).
Once a week, the "Bewegte Pause" offers the opportunity to interrupt your everyday working life for 20 minutes and allow yourself a short break for a breather and relaxation. Under the guidance of an exercise instructor, relaxation and back exercises are performed for about 15 minutes. The "Bewegte Pause" is announced in advance via e-mail.
DIT also participates in the German Sports Badge every year.
