Short description:

The Institute for Applied Gerontology and Demography was founded with the support of the Hans Lindner Foundation at the site Campus Schloss Mariakirchen/Arnsdorf. It deals with the challenges and opportunities of an ageing society in particular in the context of rural regions such as Southeast Bavaria with Lower Bavaria. In this approach, the ageing process is largely a socio-cultural spiritual phenomenon wherein the individual life course, situation and life quality are understood as an expression of the mutual relatedness of the individual and society.  Against this background, the institute is dedicated to very complex research questions concerning the ageing society.

  • Housing, mobility & partnership in old age
  • Special challenges and support possibilities of nursing relatives of elderly people
  • Special challenges and support possibilities in the ageing process  with chronical diseases
  • Approaches for the integration of gerontological findings in basic, advanced and further training and development of professional fields
  • Regional networking for the establishment of systematic gerontological and demographic forms of consciousness
