Demographic change, miniaturisation, mobile devices, personalisation, mobility, acceptance of technology: new technological and societal developments have brought human beings more and more into focus in the discussion of technical innovation. Virtually all calls for proposals reflect this human-centred focus; be it for the development, implementation or evaluation of a new technology. In order to address these requirements, the Deggendorf Institute of Technology is planning the establishment of an Institute of People and Technology (IMUT in German). The IMUT occupies a cross-sectional and interdisciplinary position within the scientific fields of the university organisation.

It is the aim of the IMUT to establish a People and Technology Competence Centre and a Competence Network at the DIT, which pools the appropriate expertise.

Due to its broad range of topics, the IMUT is relevant to all faculties of the University. With this inter-faculty orientation, the IMUT acts as an interdisciplinary interface between the various fields.

In the area of Energy and Sustainability, subsidiarity ensures the successful implementation of technology; in other words, consideration of behavioural and configuration aspects of the smallest organisation structures. How does the direct user interface influence user behaviour? What effect do regulative parameters have? How can the acceptance of new technologies be promoted?
