Our Institution

The Deggendorf Institute of Technology is an innovative, international and multi award-winning university founded in 1994 and located in picturesque Bavaria, Southern Germany.

Our international academic community creates a multicultural flair on the university's two teaching campuses: the main campus in Deggendorf and the European Campus Rottal-Inn in Pfarrkirchen, that offers exclusively English-based degress. Additionally, we have smaller technology or research campuses located around Bavaria. 

In total, 20% of our 7,000 students are international students. 186 partner universities around the world provide students with foreign exchange semesters, internships, and double degree studies abroad. The university strives for academic excellence and is committed to producing multilingual graduates equipped with full-accredited and internationally relevant bachelor and master degrees. Doctorate students study for their PhD in collaboration with international universities. Our graduates feel comfortable on the global stage and many of our 11,000 alumni have international careers.

Living and working in Deggendorf

The main campus in Deggendorf is based around a modern, central courtyard where staff and students mingle to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. The campus layout creates an open, friendly and communicative environment among staff, students and professors, as almost all lecture theatres, workshops, labs, canteens, libraries, the childcare centre and all other service centres are based directly on the compact campus. A range of events are held throughout the year, with the largest being both our popular campus fest and our summer open-air music festival.

The university is located between the banks of the River Danube and Deggendorf town centre. It‘s a charming location at the foot of the Bavarian Forest National Park, north of Munich and close to the Austrian border and the Alps. The vibrant town has a great variety of restaurants and cafes, plus many cultural festivals and events. The surrounding hilly landscape provides a stunning natural backdrop to enjoy the countless recreational activities on offer.

Living and working in Pfarrkirchen

The European Campus Rottal-Inn provides exclusively English-based bachelor and master degrees. Founded in 2015, it is in the exciting process of development, with a new campus building and student living accommodation soon to be built.

It is nestled in the town of Pfarrkirchen among rolling, picturesque hills between the Danube and Inn rivers, close to Austrian and Czech borders and near to the large, cosmopolitan cities of Munich and Salzburg.
Pfarrkirchen has become culturally renowned in the area due to its exceptional art exhibitions, museum nights, festivals and events that are held throughout the year. In summer, the old town festival tempts thousands of visitors with its multicultural culinary and musical events. Additionally, it has many established businesses, numerous street cafes, bars, secluded courtyards and shady summer beer gardens.
