20180620 promotion sarah schöllhammerDIT student completes her doctorate studies in collaberation with the UWS

At the beginning of June, Sarah Schöllhammer successfully defended her doctorate work in a final oral exam and is therefore the first female graduate from our university who has successfully completed her PhD studies at DIT in collaboration with the University of West of Scotland (UWS).

Our university has an agreement with UWS for cooperative promotions, and Sarah is the first student to complete a doctorate within the framework of cooperation between our two universities.

Dr. Stephen Gibb from the School of Business and Enterprise at the UWS, and Prof. Dr. Johann Nagengast from the Faculty of Applied Economics at DIT, supervised Sarah throughout her PhD studies. After writing her doctoral dissertation, she travelled to Paisley near Glasgow in western Scotland, to defend her work in front of evaluators Prof. Helen Shipton from Nottingham University und Prof. Edward Borodzicz from the UWS. Both were highly satisfied with her oral exam and the results of her doctoral dissertation, which examins how innovations in non-hierarchical bureaucratic organizations emerge in comparison to classical innovation management.

The choice to do her doctorate at DIT was easy for Sarah, as she graduated from our university in 2010 with a BA in International Management and remained in contact with us while she went on to study for her postgraduate degree at the Hochschule Esslingen before returning to us for her PhD studies. Professionally, she works as innovation manager at Intedis in Würzburg, Bavaria.

Currently, three PhD students are studying at DIT in cooperation with the UWS, with the next doctorate graduates expected to complete their studies this autumn.
