Hey everyone! I hope you are all well and taking care of yourselves and staying home (at least you should). Well, these are really tough and confusing times for all of us, and since Covid-19 started, I feel like my mind goes between being super fine and going crazy at the same moment. And actually, after talking to some friends I realized they are feeling the same way. What about you?
So, I started to think about it, and mainly when I got the news that we were going to face a 2nd lockdown, I immediately prepared myself for this whole situation once again. In the beginning, I thought this time would be super easy as I already had an experience with the first one. I thought that I kind of knew how to deal (aha no) with it. Turns out this lockdown has other plans for me. I think mainly because of the weather, the sun setting earlier and maybe because I was too used to the routine I had… Many factors contribute to it.
But there are some mindsets and habits I have been practicing that totally helped me in the first lockdown and it’s been helping me out again. So, at first, every day I remind myself that this is just for the time being, it will pass, and soon it will all be gone. Then I try to not put so much pressure on myself and understand that sometimes I will feel like doing nothing, and it’s ok, it’s normal for the situation. That is why, when I am full of energy, I do everything that I have to do, so I don’t miss my deadlines and obligations. Also I use this energy to move my body, to practice my activities, to dance, clean my apartment and everything else. If it’s not raining, I go outside, even if it’s too cold, the wind and fun of seeing something different that is not my walls or my computer makes my mind relax and recharge. I also call my friends, my family or watch something funny, and get good sleep. Such things have been saving me and helping me not get crazy (maybe I already am a bit, but just a liiitle bit, ok?!).
I feel like this is a very confusing and stressful moment so the most important thing is to not charge yourself so much. It’s not a time to make big decisions, or to get on a crazy diet, or to compare yourself with others just because they seem to be doing super well. Go easy, do things that will make you feel lighter, no pressure, try to be emphatic with you and with the others, and stay home.
