Eye-Tracking as Digital Tool

As part of the "Test before Invest" services, DInO offers eye-tracking consultations and analyses, among other services. Digital products such as software and websites are examined for usability (user-friendliness). The focus of this service is on usability analysis, where we analyze how user-friendly digital products are designed, which elements attract the user's attention, and how these elements influence interaction. This enables a targeted optimization of the user experience and can increase the efficiency of digital products in the long run. Real-time eye movements are combined with traditional questionnaires for this purpose.

At the Eye-Tracking Lab at Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Regensburg, several stationary and mobile Tobii eye-trackers are available. These can be used for studies at the university or directly on-site at your location. The mobile Tobii Pro Fusion Eye-Trackers record with frequencies of up to 250 Hz, meaning 250 times per second, and allow the eye movements of users to be transformed into valuable insights for product design.

In addition, eye-tracking analyses are offered in other areas, such as security awareness. Here, we highlight which security-related aspects are perceived by users and where there may be a need for action. A phishing training is also offered, which helps assess how well employees recognize phishing emails and which information they might overlook.

Service Example

You are developing an app and often receive feedback that certain features cannot be found. For example, your customers don’t know where to reset their password.
In this case, we take your app and give test participants exactly this task. We ensure that the test group matches your actual user base. Through the eye movements, it becomes clear where the participants are searching for this function. We will provide you with the results of this analysis, allowing you to either adjust your app or add helpful hints in the appropriate areas.
Of course, these studies can also be conducted for websites or other digital products.
