Less than a month left to the DigiHealthDay-2020, an international scientific symposium hosted by the DIT-ECRI in cooperation with our partners and sponsors: International Society for Telemedicine & eHealth (ISfTeH), International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA), European Federation for Medical Informatics (EFMI), DGTelemed, Bayerischer Telemedallianz (BTA), the City of Pfarrkirchen, m.Doc, and Digital Health News portal.

With 8 keynote and impulse talks, and several scientific sessions, the day’s PROGRAMME is packed with knowledge and information on the most relevant topics in Digital Health. Given the continuing and worsening situation with the COVID-19 pandemic, the conference will take place in a VIRTUAL FORMAT, with live online presentations and discussion rooms.
Attendance is FREE but requires REGISTRATION. All registered participants will get full access to both LIVE STREAMS and VIDEO RECORDINGS. Registration is open until November 1.
Our team will be coordinating the symposium onsite, on the premises of the European Campus Rottal-Inn. Provided the situation permits, we invite all our Digital Health students and colleagues who are currently in the area, to watch streams ON-CAMPUS and engage in discussions and networking. Onsite presence requires advance notification of the staff by email and is subject to special anti-epidemic measures and regulations. The room is limited to 60 seats. Dear DigiHealth Enthusiasts and Supporters,
The DigiHealthDay-2020 pre-meeting VIRTUAL WORKSHOP SERIES that took place from April-July, has been concluded. The initial plan was to host the events onsite at DIT-ECRI, but later they were converted to VIRTUAL WORKSHOPS, due to the pandemic situation. That allowed participants from across the globe to take part in and made the series an international success.
For the first time ever seven separate educational-scientific events bound by a single theme of Digital Health, were staged at DIT-ECRI, spanning over the course of 14 days in three months, featuring 28 sessions to a total of 45 hours, and attended live or viewed on-demand by 163 registered attendees from 40 countries around the world.
Prof. Dr. Brian E. Dixon from Indiana University and Regenstrief Institute’s Center for Biomedical Informatics (USA), Dr. Malcolm Fisk from De Montfort University (UK), Prof. Dr. Thais Russamano from King's College London (UK), Mr. Justus Wolff from the company Syte (Germany), and Mr. Florian Hettenbach from Amazon Web Services (Germany), were among the prominent speakers who conversed on topics that include "Applied Public Health informatics", "Key Ethical Benchmarks for Digital Healthcare", "Telehealth Applied to Extreme Environments", "Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare", and "Innovate faster with AWS – The Cloud Fundamental". VIRTUAL WORKSHOPS from DIT-ECRI alumni included "Clinical Decision Support Systems" by Dr. Arunakyri Natarajan, and "Data Integration and Interoperability" by Jonathan Okereke, Fernando Portilla, and Samir Irshaid. To help strengthen the concept, in addition to the presentation and discussions, several VIRTUAL WORKSHOPS also featured hands-on training sessions. Almost all WORKSHOPS were conducted on Microsoft Teams with very few technical issues and the participant survey suggests good audience reception. The audience appreciated the informative and engaging sessions, adding that the content was essential for their professional knowledge and career.
DigiHealthDay-2020 pre-meeting VIRTUAL WORKSHOPS with the combination of expert speakers and practice sessions through the online platform has helped DIT-ECRI reach a new milestone in its academic venture to provide world-class knowledge.
The main event “DigiHealthDay" on November 13, will continue the educational-scientific dialogue on the theme "Digital Health" with world-renowned experts. New Submission Deadline September 1, 2020
The submission deadline for abstract/paper submission for the symposium proceedings and the Journal of the International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth (JISfTeH) is now extended to September 1, 2020.
The submission date for abstract/paper for the symposium proceedings and the Journal of the International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth (JISfTeH) is now extended to July 1, 2020. If your paper is selected, you get an opportunity to present the paper orally or as a poster on 13 Nov 2020 - DigiHealthDay 2020 at the European Campus Rottal-Inn. The paper will also be published in the Journal of the International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth (JISfTeH). Accepted ones will be notified by August 1, 2020.
The final meeting – the DigiHealthDay-2020 on November 13, 2020, is still planned as before. We stay on the watch while the situation with the corona pandemic continues. You will be notified in case of any subsequent changes.

We cordially invite you to participate in the International Symposium DigiHealthDay-2020 hosted by European Campus Rottal-Inn of the Deggendorf Institute of Technology (DIT-ECRI) on November 13, 2020.
DigiHealthDay @DIT-ECRI is going to be a daylong action-packed event targeting primarily academia – from established researchers, to young scientists and students. Following the theme “How are digital technologies transforming health and care around the world”, the symposium will explore modern Digital Health and its role in tackling global health problems from a uniquely international perspective, with a special focus on Digital Health Education.
The meeting is supported and endorsed by our local and international partners: International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth (ISfTeH), International Health Informatics Association (IMIA), European Federation for Medical Informatics (EFMI), German Telemedicine Society (DGTelemed), and Bavarian Telemedicine Alliance (BTA), as well as local and regional authorities.
The European Campus Rottal-Inn (ECRI) is an international branch of the Deggendorf Institute of Technology, a modern and dynamic university of applied sciences in South-Eastern Bavaria. ECRI provides quality health and technology education through its bachelor- and master-level study programmes, including two tiers of Digital Health Education: Bachelor of Health Informatics (BHI), and Master of Medical Informatics (MMI), to students from approximately 80 countries from five continents. This global diversity is reflected in the university’s research and development projects. Ranging from EHR, telemedicine and remote care, to security and patient engagement, and to innovation and entrepreneurship, the full scope of Digital Health is at the heart of this event. DigiHealthDay will feature a mix of keynotes by world-renowned speakers, oral and poster scientific presentations, audience-centered panel discussions, student thesis and project presentations, company expo, and of course, networking possibilities.
Additionally, a series of pre-conference DigiHealth Workshops (educational events by local and international experts addressing a range of topics in Digital Health) will be organized at DIT-ECRI in Spring-Summer 2020.
We invite you to contribute by publishing and presenting your research work at the DigiHealthDay 2020. Original full-text papers on different topics related to Digital Health will be peer-reviewed by a panel of experts. Accepted papers will be published in the electronic Journal of the "International Society for Telemedicine and eHealth (JISfTeH)" as well as in print.

The faculty European Campus Rottal-Inn is a semi-autonomous branch of the Deggendorf Institute of Technology (abbreviated to DIT. ECRI was established in 2015 as a cross-disciplinary educational institution preparing multilingual, global graduates for international careers in applied healthcare and technical sciences. ECRI offers two full-time study programs in the field of Healthcare Information and Communication Technologies: Bachelor of Health Informatics, and Master of Medical Informatics, both taught in English, targeting not only local but primarily international students.
ECRI is located in the district centre Pfarrkirchen, in the region of Lower Bavaria (South-East of Germany). It is a charming touristic town, nestled among rolling, picturesque hills, close to the Austrian border and only one hour’s drive away from Deggendorf. Attractive cities nearby are Salzburg, Regensburg and Passau, and Munich is just a 90-minute drive away. The proximity to Austria and the Czech Republic puts the district in the heart of Europe. Pfarrkirchen has excellent school and education facilities, and offers many leisure activities. In the recent years Pfarrkirchen has become culturally renowned in the area due to its exceptional art exhibitions, museum nights and numerous festivals and events throughout the year. In the summer, the old town festival tempts thousands of visitors with its multicultural culinary and musical events.
The Deggendorf Institute of Technology (DIT) strives for academic excellence and ranks among the best universities of applied sciences in Germany. Founded in 1994, it is a young, modern and excellently equipped university offering relevant and practical courses set in a friendly, relaxed and safe environment. DIT supports its students with many facilities, such as student clubs, a sports programme, an international office, career services and child care centre. It is the perfect environment for students to shape their futures and move forward into academic success.
Around 7,000 students study in a range of bachelor and master level courses held in English or German (nearly 730 of them – at ECRI), all of which are officially accredited by FIBAA and ASIIN according to international standards. DIT is committed to producing global graduates with international degrees: 165 partner universities around the world provide students with many opportunities to gain experience and earn credits towards their degree through foreign exchange semesters, internships and double-degree studies abroad. Additionally, great value is placed on German language training, which is tremendously beneficial for international students, helping them integrate easily into the Bavarian lifestyle.
The university focuses in three areas: firstly, full-time education; secondly, applied research & development; and thirdly, further education. Full-time education concentrates on the bachelor and master courses, whilst in applied research & development a vast range of research topics lead to practical scientific solutions that are used to develop new, marketable products, processes and services. In fact, many doctoral students are engaged in cooperative PhD programmes in this important field. Finally, further education is organized by the Deggendorf Institute for Further Education; its courses are geared towards students who work full-time whilst pursuing further education to advance their careers.

EFMI is committed to health for all underpinned by information and communication technology.
The objectives when founded in 1976 were:
- To advance international co-operation and dissemination of information in Medical Informatics on a European basis;
- To promote high standards in the application of medical informatics;
- To promote research and development in medical informatics;
- To encourage high standards in education in medical informatics;
- To function as the autonomous European Regional Council of IMIA.
- DGTelemed
German Telemedicine Society (DGTelemed) is a national association to promote, to disseminate, to market and to publish modern innovative developments, solutions and products in telemedicine. DGTelemed is a forum of communication, discussion and lobbying for telemedicine in Germany and Europe.
- BTA
Bavarian Telemedicine Alliance (BTA) is an interdisciplinary network interface in the field of medical telematics which provides solutions, concrete insights and help for the practice of patient care in clinics and doctor’s offices. Topics are future regulations and standardization, technology options and infrastructures, new social and political framework conditions as well as pricing and financing forms for new telematics services. To realise these goals the BTA deals multidimensionally and beyond the blockades of current disputes with physicians, hospitals, pharmacies and other allied health professions.
The BTA was established in Ingolstadt, May 2012. It is a nationwide contact for all activities in the field of telemedicine, eHealth and health telematics. As a neutral competence platform, the BTA initiates, coordinates and networks telemedical projects in Bavaria, and is an information and support centre for the healthcare system and its patients. The BTA brings diverse telemedical approaches to the public and increases the level of awareness and acceptance of digitally supported health care.
