13. DAY OF research (2026)

February 10, 2026

The 13th Day of Research took place at the Deggendorf campus on February 10, 2026.

Junior DIT researchers presented their current research projects and related results to a total of around 180 guests at the 13th Day of Research. Not only did the audience gain insights into current research activities at the DIT, the event’s program also offered opportunities for professional and personal exchange.

In his keynote address, “Toward a Fusion Power Plant – Current Status and Prospects”, Prof. Dr. Christian Linsmeier (Forschungszentrum Jülich) provided fascinating insights into fusion research at one of the most renowned and largest interdisciplinary research institutions in Europe.

In addition, workshops on specific topics were held from 3:45 p.m. to 5:15 p.m., with the aim of expanding networks and deepening knowledge transfer as a mutual exchange between academia and industry.

At the Science Slam, Michael Benisch (Institute for Precision Manufacturing and High-Frequency Technology in Teisnach) impressed the expert jury with his presentation on “Robot-Controlled MRF Polishing” and won the coveted Best Presentation Award.

In the Best Poster Competition, Frantisek Kobzik (Campus Freyung) won with "Infra Broadband BIM – Fiber Optic Planning Meets Building Information Modeling," Stefanie Merz and colleagues (Campus Vilshofen) with "CAIDAN – Cyberattack Attribution using AI-Enhanced Intrusion Detection with Alert Correlation in Industrial Networks," and Hanna Schürzinger (Campus Grafenau) with "Between The Pub and WhatsApp – The Transformation of Social Meeting Places in Rural Communities in Bavaria." This year’s posters highlighted scientific aspects while also appealing to a broad audience. They are available for download here.

The next Day of Research will take place on Tuesday, February 23, 2027.
