The following steps describe the selection process for applying for a position at Deggendorf Institute of Technology.

 

1. Application Phase

If a vacant position matches your qualifications and interests, we look forward to receiving your application. Please use the "Apply now" button next to the position for which you would like to apply. This will take you to our applicant portal. First enter your personal details and then upload all relevant documents (usually cover letter, CV, certificates and references). A speculative application is also possible via the portal. Please note that the maximum file size per PDF is 2 MB. A maximum of five PDF files can be uploaded.

After we have received your application, you will receive a confirmation of submission.

  • In accordance with the AGG and SGB, preference is given to severely disabled applicants with equal qualifications.
  • In order to increase the proportion of female employees in our technically orientated university, applications from women are expressly welcomed (Art. 7 Para. 3 BayGIG).
  • Our positions are generally part-time.
  • If you have obtained your degree outside Germany, please note that you can only be hired if your certificates are officially recognised. As this process takes several months, we ask you to initiate it during the application process at the Central Office for Foreign Education (www.kmk.org/zeugnisbewertung).
  • If you are not an EU citizen, you can only be hired if you present us with a valid work/residence permit.
  • Deggendorf Institute of Technology is an institution of the Free State of Bavaria and is subject to the collective agreement for the public service of the federal states (TV-L). Remuneration is based on the classification of the position and the formal requirements of the person according to the pay scale of the TV-L.
  • If the position provides for a civil service appointment, certain requirements must be met. A civil service appointment is possible up to the age of 45 and in the case of German citizenship, citizenship of a member state of the European Union, citizenship of the member states of the European Economic Area and Swiss citizens. Proof of medical fitness must be provided as part of an official medical examination.

 

2. Selection Phase and Interview

After the application deadline, the Human Resource Management department and the relevant specialist department will review all applications received. Please understand that this step may take some time.

If you are included in the shortlist of applicants, we will contact you to arrange an appointment for an interview. The interview will either take place on site at Deggendorf Institute of Technology, at one of its external locations or via MS Teams. You will receive more information about this in our invitation letter by email.

The interview is usually accompanied by a representative of the Human Resource Management department, representatives from the respective department and a member of our staff council, if you so wish. If you have indicated that you have a severe disability or equal status in accordance with SGB IX, we will also invite our representative for severely disabled employees to the interview.

The purpose of the interview is to get to know each other and to clarify both your professional and personal qualifications so that you and we can see whether working together would be a good fit. Open questions are also answered and the general conditions of the position are explained. After the initial interview, there may be a follow-up interview directly in the department or with your future colleagues.

After all interviews have been conducted, you will usually receive feedback from us within two to three weeks. If you have any questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact the Human Resource Management department.

 

3. Confirmation

If the decision is made in your favour based on the documents and your impression at the interview, we will contact you by telephone to inform you of the initial verbal confirmation of employment. Once our staff council has given its approval, you will receive written confirmation and the recruitment documents by post. After reviewing the documents, you will make an appointment to sign the contract with the relevant administrator in the Human Resource Management department before starting work.

In accordance with Art. 75 of the Bavarian Staff Representation Act, our Staff Council is involved in all recruitments of academic support staff. Our Staff Council is also informed about the recruitment of academic staff as part of the trust-based cooperation.

 

4. Your successful start at DIT

It is very important to us that you settle in well at Deggendorf Institute of Technology. Therefore, a mentor will be at your side from the first day as part of our orientation process. Further relevant information and contact persons for your orientation will be provided at our welcome event "Welcome to DIT" for all new employees. You will also receive a welcome pack with all the important information when you sign your contract, so that nothing stands in the way of a successful start at Deggendorf Institute of Technology.

Professors

The following steps describe the selection process for filling a professorship at Deggendorf Institute of Technology.

 

1. Application phase

Once we have received your application, you will receive a confirmation of receipt.

Proof of medical fitness must be provided in the form of an official medical examination. Otherwise, the appointment is made as an employee.

 

2. Selection Phase

The HR department checks whether the applicants meet the formal criteria for appointment and sends the list of all applicants to the appointment committee as soon as the application deadline has passed

The first appointment committee meeting takes place. The appointment committee selects which applicants are to be invited to the trial teaching event. The date for the trial course and the topic of the compulsory presentation are set. Suitable applicants will receive an invitation to the trial course. The topic for the compulsory lecture will be announced at the earliest 3 weeks and at the latest 2 weeks before the date of the trial lecture. Candidates can choose the topic of the elective lecture themselves.

 

3. Trial event and list formation

On the day of the trial course, the candidates present their two lectures. This is followed by a professional discussion. You will demonstrate your expertise and motivation with regard to your future role as a professor. The trial teaching event takes place in public at the university.

Finally, a personal interview with the appointment committee will take place in camera. You will get to know the appointment committee and convince them of your personal, pedagogical and professional suitability.

After all candidates have been interviewed, a list is usually drawn up of the three most suitable candidates for the professorship. The duration of the list formation process may vary, and those placed on the list will be notified by the Human Resources Department.

 

4. Committee phase and call distribution

The Senate comments on the appointment proposal decided by the Appointments Committee and any special votes. The President may conduct introductory talks with the candidates on the list. The President decides on the appointment without being bound by the ranking of the appointment proposal.

The appointment is made with the request to accept the appointment within four weeks. This is followed by the appointment negotiations with the President.

The appointment usually takes place at the beginning of the winter or summer semester (on 01.09. or 01.10. or 01.03. or 01.04.).

 

5. Your successful start at DIT

It is very important to us that you settle in well in your new role as a professor at Deggendorf Institute of Technology. For this reason, a mentor will be at your side from day one as part of our induction process. Further relevant information and contact persons for your start will be provided at our welcome event "Welcome to DIT" for all newly appointed professors. Our support program ranges from applying for research funding and a mentoring programme for digital teaching to the Dual Career Service for partners and families of newly appointed professors and much more.
