Europe’s digital and technological future will be shaped by powerful computing infrastructures and highly qualified professionals. Computing power has become a strategic resource. What began in 2018 as an initiative under the Hightech Agenda Bavaria has now become reality. With ROBERT, we are creating an educational, research, and innovation environment that is unique in Europe. The center combines practice-oriented education and research in High Performance Computing (HPC), Quantum Computing, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Center Management with state-of-the-art technical infrastructure.

For several years, we have worked closely with our industry partners on the conception and implementation of this initiative. Our goal has been to create a place where students can not only learn about advanced technologies in theory but also apply and further develop them under real-world conditions. The partnerships established throughout this process provide the foundation for the continuous advancement of the center.

The opening of ROBERT marks an important milestone for our university, for Bavaria as a center of scientific excellence, and for Germany’s digital transformation.
